That means it is almost twice as long as a normal one.
It´s hereditary. It is not common, but also not that rare.
But normally people have one transverse going from right to left. Because my bowl is so very long it transverses twice as you can see below.
When a gallbladder is taken out laparoscopically the surgeon makes a hole near your bellybutton then blows in carbondyoxide so it balloons, next the entire crew of camera, light, burnisher and scissors or what, enters there, then moves towards the gallbladder that is somewhere under your right breast , just above the transverse colon, in my case just above the top tranverse.
Normally the transverse is fixed to the peritoneum and the small intestine is not really much fixed anywhere but held in place by the large one.
Now I am not trying to blame anyone, because this is very uncommon so not to be expected and never before published about,
But most probably and explaining aftermath best;
1/ when the tummy is inflated that normally doesn't affect the ligaments of the bowl because it is near the top of the peritonuem, where it is lifted only slightly, but mine is partially situated somewhere near the centre where the belly is inflated the most, and the distance to the peritoneum is maxed, so possibly the ligaments of the lower part of the transverse popped. (Or maybe I am allergic to carbondioxyde, or they were weakened by previous bile leaks, while adhered gallbladder held colon in position, or whatever, but they ruptured before or then and there, there is no doubt about that)
or
2/ The surgeon has never realised what he must have thought was small intestine, was in fact large intestine, and there is no other way to get to the gallbladder than across the lower transverse, so he had to cut part of it´s ligaments. There was no other way.
Focused on the gallbladder he may have thought they were adhesions or unimportant. Because it is so rare, any surgeon would have done the same, probably, no one expects to find 2 transverse colons.
While operating nothing seems out of the ordinary because you will be in supine position and bowl does not move.
But the minute I got up, gravity took a hold of the lower transverse and it dropped dramatically or , in the second case it tore itself entirely loose by it's own weight, once a considerable part of it got loose.
Because it is in fact one transverse, transversing twice, and the top part was considerably cut in to get the adhered gallbladder out as well, that followed down soon after.
APRIL X ray;
You see that just happened here;
You also see the top transverse where is already twisted, dented, and on its way down as well.
MRI scan of july shows top transverse halfway down already
X ray september shows not only entire transverse ( so both parts) imploded and lumped up on bladder, with the top part of the ascending colon on top of the infected pile, as it was torn loose from it's ligaments by the weight of the entire fallen down colon .
Compare to normal situation on X ray taken appr a year before surgery;
curved shape is breast, watch distance of top of colon to breast.the transverse already is the largest and heaviest organ in the body, but mine is not only twice as long, but also twice as heavy. On its way down it pushed aside everything in its path, while crushing and killing softer tissues like nerves.
The small intestine is being strangled, caught in the lump and the enitire calamity keeps pressing and pulling things down, like the stomach that had to stretch to the max to not get torn loose of the bowl.
I have been in tremendous pain ever since the operation.
While people with 10 cm of prolapsed anus get surgical correction, I get no help with 10 meters fallen down bowl, because it is rare.
The entire bowl pile can no longer function is infected and dying. It is a matter of time before some vein pops or the colon ruptures or mega infection will come about and kill me in an instant.
Conclusion; maybe doctors and patients should be extra careful when considering laparoscopy in case a patient has a dolichocoln.
Allthough I could do with some urgently now, things being as they are, because if the colon is not hoisted up or lifted soon I will not make it till christmas, as I am being strangled by my own gut.
